Siddaramaiah said at the party meeting the Karnataka Government will brief everyone about Supreme Court’s order and soon after the all party meet, Karnataka government will have a cabinet meeting. Siddaramaiah said the cabinet chose to convene the special session of the state legislature on September 23 in the backdrop of the apex court order yesterday, ordering Karnataka to release 6,000 cusecs of water till September 27 from today.
Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said after the all-party meeting that “not even a single drop of water should be released to Tamil Nadu for any reason whatsoever”.
BJP has demanded that the government should call an Assembly session immediately to decide the issue.
Though the regional outfit Janata Dal has made a decision to attend the all-party meet, its Mandya parliamentarian Putturaja and a couple of state lawmakers have chose to resign from their constituencies in protest against the adverse verdict. As he faced a fresh challenge on the raging Cauvery row at a time when the protests were abating, Siddaramaiah said the Supreme Court has passed an order, since we do not have water, it is very hard to implement it.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court has ordered the Karnataka government to release 15,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu on a daily basis for the following 10 days. “It is an unimplementable order”.

Police have been deployed across the city to ensure that no untoward incidents happen, a senior Bengaluru police official said on Tuesday. S Bangarappa had refused to act on an order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, but had to comply when the court intervened. We are committed to protect the interest of the state, its people and its farmers. He said that he would taking part in the all-party meeting as it was imported to present as a united front. As per reports, the Mysuru Bar Association members boycotted the court proceedings in protest against Supreme Court’s decision.
