Salim’s comments come in the wake of Sunday’s terror attack on an Indian army camp in Jammu and Kashmir which left 18 soldiers dead.

Security forces said 10 men were killed in an area close to an army base that was attacked on Sunday.

At the occasion Japanese Prime Minister offered assistance to Pakistan in anti-terrorism and economic assistance.

Two infiltration bids were made from across the border in Indian-administered-Kashmir on Tuesday but army foiled the attempts killing some of the terrorists while losing a soldier, barely two days after the terror attack in Uri.

At the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Sharif is likely to focus on the Kashmir issue and Pakistan’s tense relations with India.

The failed infiltration bids yesterday were provided cover by the Pakistani troops, who resorted to ceasefire violation in Uri sector. This has prompted Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Raheel to review the security situation and threat perception to his country. Seeking to internationalise the Kashmir question and hyphenating India-Pakistan terrorism issue, Sharif managed to do what he had set out to in the first place, deflect attention from Uri and Pathankot attacks on the Indian Army bases.

According to PTI, sources said a group of 15 terrorists had attempted to infiltrate into Indian territory through the LoC.

Mr Sharif addressed the UN General Assembly’s high-level summit on refugees and migrants on Monday and address the General Debate on September 21.

He thanked China for expressing concern regarding “Indian atrocities” in occupied Kashmir.

Condemning the attack, “as well as Pakistan’s support for many criminals like the ones who carried it out”, Poe said that the USA stood firm in its “commitment to our friends in India”. Even as jingoistic rhetoric from across the eastern border reaches a crescendo, and threatens to despoil an already volatile situation, Pakistan’s response appears calm and calculated.

Kalia did not give more details about the reported cease-fire violation. But this has been America’s modus operandi for years-condemn acts of terror but do nothing to impose sanctions on Pakistan or sever ties.

Sources said the Indian mission to the United Nations will also set up bilateral meetings with a host of foreign ministers and other leaders representing various countries at the United Nations – in a bid to highlight Pakistan’s role in terrorist activities in Kashmir and other parts of India.
