“We all wear many hats and are spread thin, so we can all relate to being exhausted and needing a break”, she said in press release. The uptempo “Smoke Break”, penned by the country superstar with longtime collaborators Hillary Lindsey (“Jesus, Take the Wheel”, “Two Black Cadillacs”) and Chris DeStefano (“Good Girl”, “Something in the Water”), is what she calls “an anthem for every hard-working person”, with lyrics about escaping life’s many stresses.

She last released new music in February, the single “Little Toy Guns”, which is featured on her greatest hits album.

The video preceded a Facebook Q&A with fans, whom she thanked in the video. It follows her first compilation album, “Greatest Hits: Decade #1”, released in December 2014. “I just went with it!” It’s very exciting! And, obviously, I stick to a lot of what I love about Country music…which is story telling! “I didn’t want to force anything or have anything be cheesy or weird, like, ‘Oh, she had a baby, so she’s singing about her baby, ‘” Underwood says.

“I just kind of feel a little sad “cause all my songs are about having girls”, Carrie joked, noting that her previous single “Mama’s Song” as well as the platinum hit ‘All-American Girl” are both songs about mummy’s to little girls.

Back in April, the star revealed that her upcoming album will actually feature a track dedicated to her six month old son Isaiah.
