A horse that had fell into a septic tank hole was freed by a team of animal rescue workers Tuesday afternoon.
In what has to be one of the strangest stories involving a septic tank in Flagler County, crews took about one and a half hours to free the horse, would only ended up with minor injuries. Almost 4 hours from when Mercy first fell in the septic tank, she was finally extracted. (Her name is) Mercy. “God gave me mercy and blessed me with her”. Officials say she appeared to be in stable condition at that point.
“We tend to get them out of sinkholes, out of mud, everything else but a septic tank”.
Several agencies, including the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and a large animal rescue team from St. Johns County, responded to the scene.

Lockwood said she will prescribe pain medications and antibiotics to help with the wounds, but expects the horse to fully recover. She laid on her side for a few minutes while crews washed her down, then she stood and began grazing.
