Blue Bell recalls some ice cream distributed in the South
Blue Bell is issuing a voluntary recall of two flavors of ice cream due to possible listeria. However, we do have to wonder if the public will continue to be so forgiving about Blue Bell this time around.

Symptoms of infection include fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, company officials said.
On Wednesday Blue Bell issued a recall on 1,936 cases of its cookie dough-flavored ice cream manufactured at the plants in Brenham and in Sylacauga, Alabama.
According to the press release, Oklahoma is not one of the states where the products produced with the chocolate chip cookie dough pieces were distributed.
News of more listeria in the Brenham-based company’s ice cream comes just two weeks after the company settled a lawsuit with a man who was living in Houston when he claims he contracted listeria from the frozen treats.
The company voluntarily suspended operations at the Broken Arrow plant on April 3, 2015, to begin inspection of the facility after a cup of ice cream recovered from a Kansas hospital tested positive for listeria monocytogenes.
The shutdown nearly forced the iconic Texas company out of business. And its factory in Alabama was cleared to resume production. The ingredient was supplied to Blue Bell by Aspen Hills, Inc.
The enhanced food safety screenings the company adopted after the last year’s debacle may be what caught the issue.
To date, no illnesses have been reported as a result of the possibly contaminated product.
It was Blue Bell that identified “a potential problem through intensified internal testing” and notified the supplier, Blue Bell said in a statement.
The affected ice cream can be returned to where it was purchased for a refund.
