Campaign manager: Clinton preparing to fact-check Trump during debate

“I’m going to let her statements speak for themselves”, he said.

Clinton has already said she’ll work with allies to dismantle the “safe harbor in Syria and Iraq”, he continued.

“You’d have to ask her about that question”, Mr. Mook replied.

“New? Aleppo’s been around for – Syria’s been around for some time”.

He even prefaced this by telling Mook that they know he was not ever secretary of state, but still wanted to know how Clinton would respond should she get a question like this in the debate. Barnicle didn’t bring up an arcane political issue such as the funding for an obscure government agency or ask Mook to name the president of “Uzbek-bekistan”, as Herman Cain once put it. When pressed to answer the question again, Mook shifted the focus to President Obama’. “I’m going to leave it to her to determine that”, Mook said in response to a question about the difficulty in delivering humanitarian aid to besieged Syrian cities.

“Was she disappointed that the President didn’t act when the line was crossed?” “I’m not being hard here at all”, Scarborough replied.

Joe Scarborough wondered aloud why campaign manager Robby Mook bothered to appear on the show at all to discuss debate prep this week after Mook sloughed off Mike Barnicle’s question on Aleppo – almost the same question that stumped the Libertarian nominee earlier this month.

He shifted to tell Geist about how Donald Trump has does not have a plan to defeat the Islamic State. The red line being drawn’s been around for some time.

Geist asked: “Obviously she was out of her office when Assad used chemical weapons”.

When Mr. Barnicle asked what Mrs. Clinton would do differently than Mr. Obama in response to Aleppo, the campaign manager again replied, “I think you’re going to have to ask her that question”, Mediaite reported. “These are relatively basic questions”.

But Mook said he was more interested in discussing the future, not the past.

Mook responded that because the decision not to respond after Assad crossed the “red line” of using chemical weapons was made after Clinton left office, that would be a question for Obama. “I’m simply saying that she has laid out a plan to defeat ISIS and if there are new questions pertaining to Aleppo, I’m going to need to let her answer those”.

“I’m not being hard either”, Clinton’s campaign managed replied.

SCARBOROUGH: – these are basic questions. “I think the choice is clear”. And she will answer those in the debate, and we look forward to her having the opportunity to do that. “That no-fly zones are a good idea?”

“We love you, buddy, but what are you here for if you can’t answer basic questions?” he asked.

“Robby, aren’t you here representing her point of view?” he asked.

Finally, Geist ended the interview by asking if Clinton still supported a no-fly zone over Syria.

Mook really couldn’t come up with some lament about the current state of Syria that wouldn’t look like a shot at Obama? “So who knows, that’s the thing about Donald Trump is you never know what’s going to set him off”.
