Israeli police: 2 Palestinian attackers killed in West Bank

The second suspect then pulled a knife and tried to stab the border policemen, who opened fire on him too, police said, noting one of their officers was “very lightly wounded in his hand” during the incident.

During the attack, a 38-year-old female police officer was stabbed in the neck and seriously wounded while a 45-year-old male officer received a stab wound on his upper body. The 17- and 20-year old Amir and Muhannad Jabari died as a result of the excessive force of the highly-armed Israeli forces gunning them down and denying any medical assistance.

One of them was instantly killed, while the other died at an Israeli hospital approximately three hours later.

The Palestinian is identified as Ayman Al-Kurd from the Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem.

Palestinian shops along the same street were ordered closed by police after the attack, shopowners said.

The Monday morning attack by a Palestinian man in his 20s from eastern Jerusalem is part of a renewed wave of Arab violence against Israeli civilians and security officials.

The attack in Hebron took place near the Tomb of the Patriarchs, which is a holy site to both Muslims and Jews.

The resurgence of violence started on Friday, when Israeli police shot and killed a Jordanian citizen after he allegedly tried to stab police officers outside East Jerusalem’s Old City, according to the police.

Jordan has demanded a detailed explanation from Israel about the killing of 28-year-old Said Amro by Israeli forces.

A spokesman for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, Sabah Rafi, refuted the Israeli narrative, saying the victim was with a group of tourists from Jordan. More than 200 Palestinians have been killed during the same period, majority identified by Israel as attackers.

The increase in violence caused the Israeli military to send troop reinforcements to the West Bank.

In the same period, 34 Israelis have been killed in stabbing, auto ramming and shooting attacks.

Israel says anti-Israeli incitement by Palestinian officials and on social media networks have stoked attacks. The Palestinians say it is rooted in almost 50 years of military occupation and dwindling hopes for independence from Israeli rule. They have killed 34 Israelis and two Americans, with about 214 Palestinians killed during that same period.
