Pakistan Refuses To Restrain Its Nuclear Programme After Uri Attack

Stating that though it was not clear which terrorist group was behind the attack, he said one things was certain: “This is just the latest outcome of Pakistan’s longstanding irresponsible policy of supporting and providing operational space for all stripes of jihadi terrorist groups. What my country and our other neighbours are facing today is Pakistan’s long-standing policy of sponsoring terrorism, the consequences of which have spread well beyond our region”, she said.
Reports suggest the agency is also examining the cause of loopholes in the security set up at the base camp in Uri near 12 Brigade, one of the highly fortified areas along the Line of Control in Kashmir, despite intelligence inputs about the possibility of such an attack. “We hope that the global community will step forward and provide necessary resources to UNHCR in a timely manner, to support the sustainable return and reintegration of the Afghan refugees”.
The Pakistan Prime Minister referred to Wani, who was killed in an encounter with security forces on July 8, as a “young leader” and said he has “emerged as the symbol of the latest Kashmiri Intifada, a popular and peaceful freedom movement…”
“The Secretary-General stressed the need for Pakistan and India to address their outstanding issues, including Kashmir, through dialogue, saying it is in the interest of both countries and the region as a whole”, according to a readout of Ban’s meeting with Sharif provided by his spokesperson.
Gen. Sharif, while chairing at an army corps commanders conference, said the armed forces of Pakistan were “fully prepared to respond to entire spectrum of direct and indirect threats”. It extends support to extremist groups, it suppresses minorities and women and denies basic human rights including through draconian laws. “We can not wait now since Pakistan has crossed every limit”.
“The land of Taxila, one of the greatest learning centres of ancient times, is now host to the Ivy League of terrorism”, she said.
“It is a blatant attempt on India’s part to deflect attention from the fast deteriorating humanitarian and human rights situation in Indian-held Kashmir”, Aziz said.

Sharif’s meeting with Kerry was among his first bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly and Kashmir featured prominently in the talks. Sharif has been mounting massive efforts to internationalise the Kashmir issue, shooting off letters to the United Nations and Ban as well and raising the issue in all of his bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the UNGA.
