Guardiola: De Bruyne second only to Messi

The home side led 2-0 at half-time after strikes from the outstanding Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho, who was once again standing in for the suspended Sergio Aguero.

Guardiola’s words might please Bournemouth’s manager and their fans, but it will definitely anger his rival Manchester United fans as the Spaniard considers the former club a superior opponent than the Red Devils.

Pep Guardiola reacted angrily to suggestions Manchester City could win four trophies in his first season in charge of the Premier League side.

The 25-year-old midfielder opened the scoring and was involved in the other three goals.

“But his (Guardiola’s) staff are awesome”. “He is on another level”.

“I think Bournemouth are a very good team and the team who with the ball played better [than anybody else] against us”. He makes everything. Without the ball he is the first fighter and with the ball he’s clear.

“I am lucky and we are lucky to have him. It’s like watching Barca at the Nou Camp”, Jenas noted with awe after the win.

Central to the impressive performance was the 25-year-old Belgium global, signed by City from Wolfsburg for big money in August 2015, having been deemed surplus to requirements by Guardiola’s fierce rival Jose Mourinho at Chelsea earlier in his career.

The Belgium global has now scored 18 goals and provided 16 assists for City in 48 appearances. But Guardiola warned against the euphoria. My target now is to be happy today, drink a little wine and tomorrow prepare the game and of course we are going to try to win our League Cup game.

“I am happy. We have won five games in the Premier League”.

“It’s important Slimani continues to score because if he only scores in the first match, we have a problem”, said Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri.

“That was impossible today but when he can do that gets used to the way we play he will be a very good player for us”. We need that humble attitude. We were penned in our half and it’s very hard for your creative players when that’s the case – and I’d include all our attacking players in that.
