Ballots close in UK Labour leadership race
Mr Miliband is particularly critical of Mr Corbyn’s “egregious” stance on foreign policy.

Mr Corbyn said: “This is a historic election for our party, as it has seen the largest number of people casting a direct vote for the leadership and direction of our movement, something we should all be proud of”.
The result will be declared at the party’s conference in Liverpool on Saturday.
Today Corbyn’s ex-wife has appeared on 5 Live to announce that she voted for Owen Smith rather than Corbyn.
Britain’s Labour party is introducing tough new rules to try and tackle a “tsunami” of online abuse among members and supporters.
“Sadly for everyone, it’s the same Jeremy Corbyn”, he said. He was reported to have been suspended as a party member, though he has denied this indeed occurred.
“I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve already done and will continue to do for the Labour Party and the people we seek to serve”.
“We have to grow the collective and be that big, broad church”, centrist Labour lawmaker Chukka Umunna told a panel discussion last week.
While one backer acknowledged there was antisemitism in society which must be eradicated whether in Labour or elsewhere, another simply pointed to how the Tory government of the 1930s blocked Jewish refugees from coming to the UK.
Mr Corbyn’s team predict he will comfortably win the election, just months after more than 50 members of his shadow cabinet walked out in protest at his handling of the European Union referendum. Instead Corbyn opposes the idea, the sources said, because he believes members ought to vote to appoint the NEC.
Some 640,000 members and supporters had until noon Wednesday to cast ballots.
Loach’s Corbyn documentary follows the Labour leader through his battle against Owen Smith for the leadership of the party, and was launched at two phoneback events backing the Islington North MP last night. “Our party is at a crossroads, and the choice we face is between renewing our party to pursue unity and power, or satisfying ourselves with ongoing division and opposition”, said Smith, who was far behind Corbyn in a YouGov poll published in August.
Meanwhile, in an interview with the BBC, Mr Corbyn set his face against proposals from deputy leader Tom Watson to return to the electoral college system which gave MPs and unions more say over the choice of a leader.
But he also insisted: “We owe it to the millions of people Labour exists to represent to end the sniping and personal attacks, and work together for all those who depend on the election of a Labour government”.
Smith argued that he saw what the Tories did to the country in the 1980s and said he felt it was happening again with a “hard right agenda …”
In an open letter to Labour supporters, Smith said he was “proud” of the policies he had put forward.

Under Jeremy’s leadership, Labour has become a firmly anti-austerity party, and a party with a credible economic strategy based on investment, not cuts.
