HTC may end the One naming madness with new O2 flagship

Global goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel launches HTC’s UEFA Collectors Edition “Champions” handset at Carphone Warehouse on February 24, 2015 in London, England. They claim that the new phone will be called either the One M10 or simply HTC O2. Now LeTV is potentially aiming for another first as it teased a smartphone that will be running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. The use of a Snapdragon 820 implies that rather than appearing inside Q4 (rumours said October 2015) we’re now looking at early 2016 when Snapdragon 820 devices generally are expected to ship. The report also alleges 64GB and 128GB storage variants (no 32GB?) and a 20MP primary camera, with a 5MP shooter on the front. Prior to the launch of the HTC One M9 in March, the rumors and speculation pegged the device as one which was going to land and land hard with top specs and a premium design.

The phone will also sport a 3500mAh battery, which is made for a longer-lasting phone life.

Finally, the device is said to have IP certification for its protection against dust and water.

The report goes on to note that a smaller version of the HTC handset will arrive next year packing a 5-inch display with a 2K or even a 4K resolution, and an even faster processor.

That is all that is known regarding the HTC O2 for now, however, as can be expected from all unannounced smart phones, leaks should come trickling in soon.

We’ve rounded up everything we know about the so-called HTC One M10 so far, and will update this article when we hear more.

However, with the Snapdragon still unavailable, it makes sense for the O2 to come in next year instead.
