On Friday, September 16th, Tulsa, Ok. cops were called because a seemingly abandoned vehicle was blocking the road.
The Rev. Willie Lauderdale, whose church is near Crutcher’s home, said Crutcher wasn’t a member but would come sing some Sundays.
Police confirmed on Tuesday that a vial of PCP was found in the auto, but no gun was found on Mr Crutcher or at the scene.
Wednesday, our partners at the Frontier say a TPD source with knowledge of the investigation told them the driver’s side window of Crutcher’s SUV was down the whole time. “We didn’t see what was in the auto, and it has nothing to do with the actions taken because the officers couldn’t see what was in the vehicle”, Sharpton said. Then nearly immediately, a woman’s voice yells on the police radio: “Shots fired!” They both show the 40-year-old Crutcher walking with his hands in the air toward his SUV, which is stopped in the middle of the street and straddling the center line.

Attorneys for Crutcher’s family dispute that, pointing to an enlarged photo from police footage that appears to show Crutcher’s window was rolled up.

Local and federal investigations are underway to determine whether Crutcher’s civil rights were violated and whether Shelby should face charges.
