One soldier killed as army foils two infiltration bids

India on Thursday called Pakistan a “terrorist state” and accused it of carrying out “war crimes” against Indians through its “long-standing policy” of sponsoring terrorism, hours after Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif raked up Kashmir issue at the U.N. General Assembly session. He said Pakistan itself was a victim of terrorism, adding, “We hope that the situation between India and Pakistan will not escalate”.

Ahead of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s address to the UN General Assembly, Pakistan’s permanent representative to UN Maleeha Lodhi told reporters in NY that “Pakistan’s nuclear program can not be restricted”.

The latest infiltration bids come as India blamed Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed militants for the Uri terror attack.

“Let us be clear: talks are no favor to Pakistan”.

Pakistan is for peaceful resolution of all outstanding disputes with India and one such dispute is Kashmir which has been internationally recognised as inter-state dispute pending settlement through a plebiscite in Kashmir. “With the approval of authorities, many terrorist organisations raise funds openly in flagrant violation of Pakistan’s global obligations”, she said.

India also hit Pakistan where it would hurt – foreign aid.

About India’s growing defence budget, the PM said, “We can not ignore our neighbour’s India unprecedented arms buildup”.

Sharif’s speech at the United Nations on Wednesday is likely to focus on the Kashmir issue and Pakistan-India relations, the report said.

“We can not and will not allow terrorism to prevail”, she said.

The team, which took over the case from the Jammu and Kashmir Police that had registered an FIR into the attack on Sunday, has also taken into its possession various items of investigation recovered from the possession of the four suicide attackers who were killed in a gunfight after they entered the administrative base of an infantry battalion in Uri town.

Tensions between the two nuclear powers have intensified since Indian security forces killed a popular Kashmir rebel commander on July 8.

The premier reiterated Pakistan’s stance of resolving the issue of Kashmir through dialogue with India and said Pakistan has “gone the extra mile to achieve this”.

“Pak PM Sharif at #UNGA glorifies Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani in UN’s highest forum”.

Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden who was responsible for the attack was found hiding in Abbottabad close to the Pakistan Military Academy and killed on May 2, 2011, in an operation led by the US.

Pakistan accuses New Delhi of using the attack to deflect attention from unrest in the portion of Kashmir India controls.
