Eagles Players Visit Officer Injured in Rampage Shooting

It “references issues he had with a probation officer, not being particularly fond of the police department, but a lot of talk in the first person about himself, and just what he does and doesn’t do, and issues he has with a whole bunch of other things”.

Both Miller and Young, a 19-year police veteran, were in stable condition Saturday at Penn Presbyterian Hospital.

A report via Philly.com cites court records indicating Nicholas Glenn had a criminal record consisting of Philadelphia drug-possession convictions.

A gunman shot and injured two Philadelphia police officers Friday night during an ambush that ultimately left two people dead – a civilian and the suspect – and three other civilians wounded.

Still, an official police Twitter account said early Saturday that the most recent shooting was the work of “an individual driven by hatred”.

NBC10 obtained surveillance video of an officer who falls to the ground and then limps to safety during the shooting.

Mayor Jim Kenney praised officers and urged them to follow Young’s example and wear their protective vests.

Other law enforcement officers responding to the shooting chased a suspect on foot and cornered him in an alley where he was shot and killed. Glenn’s 9mm Ruger pistol had the serial number obliterated.

In January, a gunman in west Philadelphia shot and wounded an officer sitting in his police vehicle. The suspect shot that woman in the leg. “They will save your life, as we saw tonight”.

At the time, the shooter hadn’t said a word to Young before firing gunfire at her at close range. The suspect then shot an additional 14 times into a auto, hitting a man and woman in the chest.

After he left the bar, the gunman came upon a white vehicle with a man and woman inside.

He fired into her window without warning or provocation, Ross said.

Police on Saturday said two officers fired at Glenn, but did not identify those officers. He fired into a bar, striking a security guard in the leg, then grabbed a woman to use as a human shield.

Commissioner Richard Ross commended officers for their restraint during their pursuit and for not injuring any civilians.

“All in all, it was a really awful, scary night”, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said. “I had the opportunity to be with both police officers this evening, and their families”.

The officer was able to duck for cover and radio in a description of the suspect.

“Gun violence across this nation is absolutely out of control”, Ross said.

The chase came to end when the gunman exchanged fire with police in an alleyway. Archer, in custody, faces trial on attempted murder and related charges.
