Jay Cutler Facing ‘Lengthy Absence’ With Injury
He outplayed Chicago’s 11-year veteran Jay Cutler, who lost a fumble and threw a bad interception before leaving the game with an apparent hand injury.

“It’s hard for me to give timelines”, he said. “I felt like last night all of those boxes were checked in order for us to go for it on fourth down”. “The fact that they’re both very good throwers outside the pocket is a tribute to both of them”. Their defense has given up the fifth most yards through two games.
Pederson added, “I know early on, when Colin did his thing, it might’ve been because of the shock and awe of what happened, but I think now that everyone has sort of embraced it and knows it’s going to happen, I think everybody is braced for it, so it won’t be a distraction”.
The Chicago Bears announced that quarterback Jay Cutler has a thumb sprain, and he is day-to-day as the Bears prepare to face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. When it became clear that he couldn’t do it-he re-aggravated the injury against Philly-he left.
Cutler’s injury was the big story going into Tuesday with NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reporting the Bears were ready for Cutler to miss significant time.
Ahead of Sunday’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles, Doug Pederson says he sees a lot of similarities between rookie Carson Wentz and Super Bowl victor Ben Roethlisberger.
There’s plenty of time for the Bears to turn it around, but little evidence to suggest they’ll be able to. Cutler wasn’t the only casualty of this game as the Bears might be without brand new, Super Bowl champion linebacker, Danny Trevathan left with a thumb injury that will require surgery. He was wearing a cast on his right hand on Monday night and missed the final six games of the 2011 season when he last injured his right thumb. That sack caused Cutler to lose a fumble, and he only made two more throws, a bad incompletion and an interception, before he was removed from the game in the third quarter.
On the one that counted, Sturgis put it right between the uprights, shifting momentum to the Eagles as the teams went in to the locker rooms at halftime.
“I’m concerned”, Cutler said Monday. “We’ll definitely keep you posted”. And he has plenty of company.
“Just my strength in (the thumb), I couldn’t really grip the ball”, Cutler said.

Also missing practice Wednesday were nose tackle Eddie Goldman (ankle), running back Ka’Deem Carey (hamstring), safety Adrian Amos (concussion), cornerback Bryce Callahan (concussion) and safety Chris Prosinski (calf). Fox basically brushed off a question about the McPhee-Cutler confrontation, saying he has not seen it. “If it comes down to making somebody uncomfortable by speaking the truth, then I’ll always make you uncomfortable with the truth, (rather) than make you feel comfortable with a lie”.
