“A big thank you to people of Rajasthan”.

The results of the 129 civic bodies in 31 districts in Rajasthan which went to poll on 17 August 2015 are expecting to day by evening.

While the BJP won 1,416 wards of the 3,300 whose results were declared so far, the Congress bagged 1,146 wards.

Prasad claimed that the people of Rajasthan and the country in general were backing BJP as they were happy and satisfied with the effective work carried out by its governments both at the Centre and in the states where it was in power.

Congress, which was routed in the Lok Sabha elections last year, made significant gains attaining or nearing majority in around 40 bodies and was neck and neck with BJP in 17 bodies. Whereas the NCP won a full majority in one municipal body of Nokh in Bikaner district by securing 19 out of 35 ward members body, the BJP won 10, Congress one and five went to Independents, an official of the State Election Commission said here.

“We have been able to improve our vote share and have given a crushing defeat to the ruling party in the chief minister’s constituency”, state Congress president Sachin Pilot said at a press conference. Pilot alleged that BJP government had become so frustrated due to the controversy that its party workers had attacked Congress candidates during electioneering, following which he had lodged a complaint with RSEC.

“This victory is the victory of the developmental policies of BJP and good governance in the state… the Congress party standing on the sidelines of the country’s politics, needs to do some serious introspection”. The minister said that, be it Congress party, Rahul or Sonia Gandhi, all have been defeated by the people of MP.
