For those seeking a high performance video and gaming box on a budget, the PlayStation 4 Slim will sell at $299, with both consoles being interoperable. “In addition, we continue to see strong engagement on Xbox Live – the fastest, most reliable gaming network – with total global gaming hours on Xbox One consoles increasing 42 percent year-over-year”.

Shipping in “most territories” from 15 September, the new model will come at the reasonable price point of £249. Rumoured for months, the console (previously codenamed the Playstation Neo), will serve as a.5 update on the Playstation 4. This allows for a more realistic look in the games of today.

At an event in New York City, the company introduced the world to PlayStation 4 Pro, which will render some games in 4K ultra high definition resolution – an image about four times larger than the current high-def standard now available.

Sony has revealed two new versions of its hit PlayStation video game console on Wednesday, one geared toward professional gamers and another that’s smaller and more energy efficient. Microsoft’s senior director of product management and planning at Xbox, Albert Penello, spoke with IGN about how he thinks their upcoming Project Scorpio will compare with Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro.
