Everton stunned by Norwich, Liverpool win in League Cup

Elsewhere, Premier League big hitters Liverpool are at home to Tottenham, the sides having already drawn 1-1 at White Hart Lane this season.

The Spurs have started the season well, notching three wins and two draws from their five games so far, conceding only two goals in the process, but have also had a fairly soft start, facing the current bottom two teams in the league. Ties to be played week commencing 24 October.

At the City Ground, an understrength Arsenal side had few problems dealing with Nottingham Forest, winning by a 4-0 scoreline in the end.

Klopp is happy to see so many big teams pitted against each other in the next round, and feels with the way the big clubs have approached the domestic cup competition, the fourth round clashes are going to be exciting.

United beat Northampton Town 3-1 at Sixfields Stadium, while City qualified with a 2-1 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. Ander Herrera helped United regain their lead in the second half, before Marcus Rashford, a substitute alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic, capitalised on a terrible goalkeeping error to send his side through to the next round.

Liverpool confirmed their passage into the fourth round with a convincing 3-0 win over Derby County.

There will be two derbies in the next round with Manchester United locking horns with Manchester City and West Ham taking on Chelsea.

In a replay of Saturday’s Championship fixture, Newcastle United welcomed Wolves to St James’ Park but got some revenge after a shock 2-0 defeat four days ago.

The remaining ties take place tomorrow night, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all looking to book their place in the next round.
