Talking of the Uri attack, Sharif demanded an “independent inquiry into the extra- judicial killings” and a United Nations fact-finding mission to Kashmir “so that those guilty of these atrocities are punished”.

According to a statement by the Pakistan Mission to the UN, Sharif handed over to Ban the dossier containing information and evidence of alleged atrocities and human rights violations against Kashmiris.

Given determination reflected from the rising tempo of their resistance to India’s repressive misrule the Kashmiris are not going to surrender their right to freedom anytime soon. He also dismissed reports about Pakistan’s threat of use of tactical nukes, saying that “An empty vessel makes the most noise” and asserted that steps will be taken to ensure that incidents like Uri strike are not repeated.
“We hope that the situation between India and Pakistan will not escalate”.
Insisting that peace and normalisation between Pakistan and India can not be achieved without a resolution of the Kashmir dispute, Sharif made a number of allegations with regard to the current unrest in the valley.
Stating that the present government has also done little to correct the imbalance in defence capabilities, Sahni said: “Unless capacities are enormously augmented, our strategic options will remain severely restricted”.

Another diplomatic success came for India as BRICS group at United Nations accepted the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) treaty proposed by India. “These lie in poverty and ignorance, political and social injustice and oppression, foreign intervention and occupation and denial of the legitimate rights of peoples and nations, especially the right to self-determination”.

“Even today we have heard support by the Prime Minister of Pakistan for a self-acknowledged commander of a known terrorist organisation”, she said.
