He did not address the issue of terrorist groups targeting neighboring countries from Pakistan. The militants were reportedly trained and sent by a Pakistan-based terror group.
He also demanded immediate release of all Kashmiri political prisoners; an end to the curfew; freedom for the Kashmiris to demonstrate peacefully; urgent medical help for the injured; abrogation of India’s draconian “laws”; and removal of the foreign travel ban on Kashmiri leaders.
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif spoke at the United Nations General Assembly and once again raised the issue of Kashmir and praised the slain terrorist Burhan Wani, who was killed by the Indian security forces a month back.
References to Kashmir and tensions arising out of Uri terror attack were conspicuously absent in Chinese official media coverage of the meeting between China Premier Li Keqiang and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif here.
He said Pakistan is a peaceful country and peaceful neighbourhood is the vision of the Prime Minister.
China is willing to maintain close high-level contacts and continue to strengthen coordination with Pakistan on global and regional affairs, Li said.
To a question, he said there is concrete evidence of Indian sponsored terrorism and terrorist financing in Pakistan especially in Balochistan and Karachi.
The Prime Minister on Wednesday night apprised Ban of the plight of the Kashmiri people who he said were victims of Indian brutality in the region which have continued unabated since the July 8 killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani which sparked violent protests and clashes, Dawn online reported. While insisting that peace and normalization between Pakistan and India can not be achieved without a resolution of the Kashmir dispute, he said, “This is an objective evaluation, not a partisan position”.
It also reported that the U.S. has ridiculed the Pakistan’s ran for Kashmir and has asked Sharif to support India in all possible ways in the investigation of Uri attack.
He added the world also knows that Pakistan has indulged in ethnic cleansing of its own people.
“Pakistan’s consistent use of war and terrorism has been at the cost of development of the people of Pakistan”.
India also strongly rejected Sharif’s call for “a serious and sustained” bilateral dialogue “without any conditions”, saying that Pakistan, which “seems to be run by a war machine rather than a government”, wants talks with a “gun in its hand”. “Talks and guns don’t go together”.
Following the Uri attack, China has appeared to mount a careful balancing act, saying it was “shocked” by the violence and “condemned terrorism in all forms”.
