USA internet giant Google launched on Wednesday, September 21, a smart messaging app aimed at muscling into a busy market with popular rivals such as WhatsApp and Facebook’s messenger. There are so many features in the app. Its Google Assistant will butt in with restaurant recommendations when someone types, “Want to get sushi?” After choosing one, you can tap for opening hours, directions or the menu.
With the launch of the Allo on Wednesday, Google says it will be permanently storing all non-incognito messages. There’s also a large selection of sticker packs that you can download to convey that precise feeling of dread or elation.
That contrasts with the approach of Whatsapp, which holds on to messages only until they have been delivered, and Telegram and Apple’s iMessage, which promise never to scan users’ communications.
You can also directly chat with the Google Assistant, or you can include it in conversations with your friends by starting your message with @Google. Here’s more on Allo to help you decide.
