Todd Stansbury returns to Georgia Tech as athletic director

Mark Massari is Oregon State’s current deputy athletics director for capital projects and internal operations, but he also spent six years at UC Santa Barbara as their athletic director. Ray said he plans to name an interim athletic director as soon as possible by following university procedures.

Todd Stansbury is taking over as Georgia Tech’s next athletic director. Stansbury is the first Tech graduate to fill the chair since William Alexander, who was the school’s second athletic director following John Heisman and served in that position from 1920 to 1950.

Ray said he was disappointed by the news of Stansbury’s departure, “but I do understand the pull of his alma mater”. The search committee will be led by OSU professor Joey Spatafora, who is the university’s faculty athletic representative to the Pac-12 Conference. During his time at Oregon State, Stansbury was part of a senior management team that raised $150 million for a football stadium expansion, in addition to fundraising for the construction of a sports performing center. The search process was assisted by Turnkey Search. Ray said he is confident that Oregon State will draw interest from many high-caliber athletics administrators throughout the nation.

Stansbury expanded OSU’s “Everyday Champions” program that emphasizes student-athlete success in the classroom and in the community.

Stansbury grew up in Canada.
