The chip gets its kick (and then some more kick, and then some more) from the Carolina Reaper Pepper, the Guinness Book of World Records holder for Hottest Chili Pepper on Earth.
The Paqui chips product is individually wrapped in red packaging that sports an illustration of the Grim Reaper.
And if that’s not already hot enough for you, they mixed in ghost peppers and chipotle seasoning for some zesty taste to fuel the dangerously spicy fire. The chip gets its spiciness from the world’s hottest pepper – the Carolina Reaper Pepper. Made with the hottest chili pepper known to man, the Carolina Reaper Pepper serves some serious heat and packs a punch in your mouth for those who dare to try it. The intense seasoning makes for a heat rating of 1.57 million Scovilles, or over 78,000 times hotter than the hottest jalapeño. The regular Tabasco sauce measures between 2,500 – 5,000 on the Scoville scale, so imagine eating a tortilla chip with the Carolina Reaper pepper as its main ingredient.

“The reason that we’re selling this as one chip is because quite honestly, that’s all that you need”. The Paqui limited edition tortilla chips will be available on their official website later this month. “So, one chip is what we created to have the experience”. It’s literally the hottest chip in the world, and only one chip comes in a package – the package being a coffin-shaped box.
