The German has a selection headache on his hands ahead of Saturday’s game, with both goalkeepers available and vying to take up position between the Reds’ posts.

Under the management of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have become less reliant on a particular striker to be firing at all cylinders before they win matches.

“They kept possession so well, moved the ball, looked unsafe, effective and I’m sure they’re going to have a good season this year”.

“It is not the place to announce line-ups but of course we have to think about it but in a positive way”, said Klopp. “Obviously it’s different to changing midfielder”, the Liverpool manager explained during a pre-match press conference, according to the BBC.

The Frenchman said: “I told the players before the game that we went to Sheffield Wednesday (last season) and lost 3-0 because we were not ready mentally for the commitment of the Championship”. It’s a decision at a very high level because I’m really happy with both of them. I needed that, I need to play more games if I am going to get better and better’.

“Adam, Hendo [Henderson] and Gini [Wijnaldum] have played well together – you can see by the results and the good football”.

“We had a lot of possession and dominated the game but we didn’t score [at first], but I was in the right place at the right moment – or maybe the wrong place, I don’t know!”

“We have to be angry against Hull because they want our points – that makes me angry so it’s easy for me”, said Klopp.

He revealed that Sturridge had “something like a final test yesterday” which meant he had “three days without training” but insisted he “should” be back in full training “today”.

Klopp added: “Fitness is not a problem”.

“We have confidence. We have a very strong squad and if you play for Liverpool you the target always has to be to get silverware but we have to show from game to game and we will see at the end of the season”.

Can now faces a battle to force his way back in to Klopp’s starting XI with captain Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana impressing during his absence.
