Google Allo: 13 Things to Know About the New Messaging App

We’ve updated the news on Google Allo. Like its competitors – WhatsApp, Line, Facebook Messenger, iMessage, and so forth – Allo offers cross-platform multimedia-enhanced texting and self-destructing messages, but it also has a few handy “smart” features, such as a built-in Google search assistant. The app is now available to users, but with much weaker privacy protection measures. Android phones are often shipped with Messenger built in, and then came Hangouts, which is also included, with the work offering of Google. But the version rolling out today will store all non-Incognito messages by default, which is a change from Google’s earlier promises.

For users it is not only a messaging app as you can also subscribe to a variety of news and information sites and recieve notifications at which ever time you choose.

Allo is also only for mobile use. Type @google within a group chat or just talk one on one.

Open the app and install it on Android smartphone.

Can Google Allo replace your go-to texting app?

This is the way how you interact with a virtual assistant and let it help you with things around the webs.

The goal of Google Assistant is to serve your seeking of information from the internet.

Currently, both Smart Reply and Google Assistant are in English-only, with “more languages coming soon”. If that’s a concern to you, Allo might not be the best option for you. What this does is, it recalls the typical responses of the user and presents the applicable ones as reply options to a message or a photo.

The app has a feature called “Smart Replies” through which the app will suggest you words or phrases that you can reply in a conversation. If you click through the Google Play link below, you should see the old Allo listing that allows you to register for updates.

If you want to keep your messages on the down-low, you can use Allo’s incognito mode to send encrypted messages that self-destruct after specified amount of time.
