S.Korea orders additional measures to ensure Samsung Note 7 battery safety

Samsung’s recall saga continues, as it seems that South Korean officials are putting pressure on Samsung to conduct additional battery tests to Galaxy Note 7 smartphones part of the exchange program.

The official request came from the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards which primarily handles product safety regulations but is also responsible for supervising refund and recall programs such as the one Samsung just introduced.

He again urged Note 7 users to exchange their phones as quickly as possible and to stop using them to avoid the risk of another auto fire, house fire, or leg burn because of the phone’s battery.

However, The Verge claims that only 25% of Galaxy Note 7 owners have actually handed in their phone.

Nam said the agency made the request because “the plan to remove hazards in the markets is insufficient”.

WorldStage Newsonline- Samsung Electronics West Africa Limited has announced the postponement of the planned launch of Samsung Galaxy Note7 in Nigeria on September 30. The iPhone 7 Plus and the Galaxy Note 7 were put through five rounds of drop tests.

But the public-relations black eye could be temporary, a branding expert says, because Samsung is a respected smartphone maker that sells more units than any company in the world. Samsung had to recall the phones worldwide, offer refund and also introduce update to fix the glitch.

Due to spotty availability of the new Note 7 replacement phones at the moment, it’s a good idea to call your local store first to check if the phone is in stock.

We remind you that on September 2, Samsung has announced that the Note 7 battery cell issue has forced the company to stop sales, then a week later, Samsung and CPSC have issued “power down and stop use” guidance.

With the new structure in the latest Android platform, it is expected that non-Google devices will get the Android Nougat much quicker than expected.

Though the testing does not yet indicate any concrete prospect, Samsung following through on installing the Android 7.0 Nougat on the Galaxy S7 will also bring good tidings to owners of older Samsung devices.
