Governor endorses Vegas stadium plan
The remaining $1.15 billion would be paid for by Las Vegas Sands Corporation CEO Sheldon Adelson and his $650 million contribution and the Raiders $500 million payment.

A group of investors with ties to NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott is offering to purchase the Coliseum land with the hopes of keeping the Raiders in Oakland, according to a letter the group’s attorney sent to local officials last week… If Oakland can not come up with a public-private partnership on a new stadium like Minnesota did, it risks losing the Raiders for a second time.
In a move many expected, Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval reportedly announced Wednesday that he will call a special session of Legislature to discuss a potential stadium for the Raiders in Las Vegas. Schaaf told the East Bay Times that the city and county had entered a “90-day memorandum of understanding” with the group to begin negotiations. The governor said Davis is “committed and resolute in the team’s interest in relocating to our state” – though Davis reportedly made it clear recently that the move will not include any sale of the franchise.
“Recognizing that they came out of committee with a bill, but there’s still a lot of work to be done to improve that recommendation”, Goodell said. I think we can do it in Oakland. Major League Baseball’s Oakland Athletics have been looking at potentially building their own stadium on the waterfront in downtown Oakland near Jack London Square, so it is not known whether they would be involved in this project. But it’s evident other owners consider it well beyond that stage. “Just as I have met with top leaders prior to those announcements, this week I met with the owner of the Raiders, Mark Davis”.

It is unknown whether the Oakland Athletics, who have been in talks about a new stadium construction site in downtown Oakland, would be impacted by the agreement.
