Ahmad Khan Rahami, a naturalized US citizen from Afghanistan with an address in Elizabeth, New Jersey, should be considered armed and unsafe, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said in one of a series of TV appearances just minutes after the photo was released.

“The FBI conducted internal database reviews, interagency checks, and multiple interviews, none of which revealed ties to terrorism”, the FBI said.

Ahmad Rahami, a naturalized us citizen, was taken into custody after a shootout with police in Linden, a nearby town.

Patton said in a letter to a federal judge Tuesday night that Rahami has been held and questioned by federal law enforcement agents since his arrest. The St. Cloud police chief said the man reportedly made at least one reference to Allah and asked a victim if he or she was Muslim before attacking.

Prosecutors say they are still considering charges over those bombings.

According to a description of the video, it shows Rahami in a backyard “igniting incendiary material in a cylindrical container”.

As a police vehicle pulled up at the traffic light in front of the shop, the man fired about six shots at the cruiser, then continued down the street with police following him, Bilinskas said.

She said no one has been charged.

In addition to the blast in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood on Saturday, a pipe bomb exploded in a New Jersey shore town before a charity 5K race and an unexploded pressure cooker device was found blocks away from the explosion site in Chelsea.

“The sounds of bombs will be heard in the streets”, the journal declared.

The FBI is looking for the two men who found the suitcase that contained a bomb on West 27th Street in Chelsea on Saturday. The agency says the men were seen Saturday night removing the bomb from a piece of luggage, then leaving the device behind while taking the suitcase.

The FBI wanted poster, issued hours before the arrest, warned that Rahami “should be considered armed and risky”.

In Rahami’s case, the law enforcement official said the Federal Bureau of Investigation had opened up an “assessment”, the least intrusive form of an Federal Bureau of Investigation inquiry.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said officials have every reason to believe the series of bombings “was an act of terror”, though investigators said Rahami’s exact motive isn’t yet clear.

Rahami’s father spoke with the FBI after Rahami was charged in 2014 with stabbing his brother, according to the officials, who were not authorized to discuss the investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

But a former federal prosecutor told NBC News Tuesday Bharara is likely just waiting to comment publicly on Rahami’s fate – while trying to bring federal charges against him in the Southern District of ny.

He said Rahami’s father and two brothers sued the city after it passed an ordinance requiring the restaurant to close early because of complaints from neighbors about it being a late-night nuisance. NBC’s Kerry Sanders asked Ahmad’s father Mohammad in an on the spot interview while he was seated in his vehicle.

When these types of complaints come in, they usually go into the FBI’s Guardian Threat Tracking System, which prompts a limited level of investigation and surveillance. Spokesman Josh Earnest said Obama will comment publicly later Monday.

Rahami’s wife is thought to be a Pakistani national. He emailed a congressman seeking help because his pregnant wife had an expired passport during a 2014 visit to Pakistan.

US officials are working with counterparts in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to get in touch with her, according to the official, who was not identified.

“We’re aware of the reports but don’t have any comment at this time”, he told the AP. Federal prosecutors said they were still weighing charges over the bombings.

Federal agents would like to question Rahami. At the time, he was employed by Summit Security, a private contractor.

He remained hospitalized with gunshot wounds to the leg, forearm and shoulder. Still, some of the restaurant’s customers said Rahami was more likely to talk about his interest in cars.Stanekzai said it was possible Rahami might have been influenced by “huge networks” of radicalization in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, or online.
