Google Allo arrives with wide array of features

Introducing Google Allo, a smart messaging app that helps you say more and do more. The notable feature of Allo is the inclusion of the Google Assistant and the smart replies that accompany it. Google Assistant can analyze text, photos, links and more to determine a suitable reply.

Allo is now available for download on Android and iOS and will roll out globally over the next few days. But if people don’t want their data shared with Google, the app includes an Incognito Mode that makes them encrypted and better hidden – as well as turning off data features like the Google Assistant.

If both you and the other participant in your conversation choose to delete a conversation, though, the messages will be removed from Google’s servers. The text-only virtual assistant of Allo is simply called Google Assistant, and it follows instructions and commands even when the user is engrossed in texting. However, there is an incognito chat option which has end-to-end encryption for your private messages. You can even tell the assistant about your favorite teams and the next time you ask about the performance of your team; the app will show you news, videos, and photos related to its performance.

Allo will also mark the debut of Google Assistant, an intelligent chat AI that brings Google’s services to your conversations in a preview edition. Google has customized Allo for Indian users by enabling smart replies in ‘Hinglish.’ It is also rolling out over 200 stickers relevant to Indian users that have been created by popular independent artists.

Amit Fulay, Group Product Manager, Google said on the launch, “Whether it’s planning a night out or just catching up, we rely on messaging to stay in touch with friends and family every day”. This could be a lack of Google Apps support, or because it’s not the official store version of the app, but I’ll be keeping my eye on that one.
