Why are some iPhone 7s making hissing noises?
The first comes from Reddit user DigitalDK, who took his new iPhone 7 Plus to Mt. Washington and other New Hampshire-area scenes.

The iPhone 7 Plus Google Octane V2 score (which measures how quickly a phone processes JavaScript) is nearly eight times that of the Samsung Galaxy S7.
It is a fairly new incident as no such issues were reported with iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
It’s unclear at this point if the noise is a general issue of all iPhone 7 models or if it is just a problem with defective batches.
The issue was first noted by 512 Pixels’ Stephen Hackett, who posted about the same on Twitter, and also shared a YouTube link to the hissing sound from his iPhone 7 Plus. According to Hackett, he was syncing the iPhone 7 Plus with iCloud.
Engadget reports that not all phones exhibit the hissing sound under testing, so the nuisance may actually be a defect affecting only a batch of the newly released iPhones.
Though several reports also suggest this hissing sound is not just limited to Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as pretty much all devices make a similar sound when pushed, especially during high-intensity GPU/CPU usage.
Even before Apple unveils its new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, we already knew that they would feature new cameras that would instantly be among the best in the business. While most owners have given a positive feedback for its reliability and top-class performance, many are reporting a problem with the flagship from Apple. Furthermore, the hissing noise is heard only when the device is under peak load or heavy processor usage.
Hackett reached out to AppleCare Support on this and was told to head to the nearest Apple Store for a replacement.

Because the home button is no longer a physical key but rather part of the iPhone itself, it uses haptic feedback in order to work.
