Many fans were surprised to discover Beyoncé did not attend the 68th annual Emmy Award show in Los Angeles.
The Emmys 2016 saw telly’s biggest and most handsome stars rock the red carpet in a host of gorgeous gowns. We expected a clean sweep for Beyoncé, but Grease: Live swooped in and won Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. Beyoncé and Kahlil Joseph were nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for the song Lemonade and her fans were confident about their idol’s win but ultimately the Emmys went to Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinski for Grease: Live.
After her win was announced, the evening’s host Jimmy Kimmel took to the stage in faux protest and joked that in future, the award would be given to someone else if the victor wasn’t there to collect it.
Despite her Emmys absence, Beyonce supporters were still rooting for her. “Lemonade lost to grease live we all know becky with the good hair is behind this mess”, one viewer tweeted, referring to lyrics from Bey’s hit “Sorry”. ‘I saw the seating chart, and I was supposed to be sitting two rows behind her’.
Queen Bey got snubbed.

“I was gonna stare at the back of her head and experience happiness in a form that I probably haven’t felt before”, he added.
