Peterson to undergo surgery for knee injury
He will undergo surgery Thursday for a torn meniscus in his right knee. The timetable for his return remains unknown, though Anderson said Peterson is dealing with a “bucket handle tear” that typically requires a minimum of 3-4 months to heal. Rodgers and the rest of the offense looked out of sync in last week’s loss at Minnesota. But at this point, the most likely course of action is for the Vikings to place him on the injured reserve. He spent four seasons with the Broncos, totaling 1,845 rushing yards. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater tore multiple knee ligaments on August 30, and the team started the season with two quarterbacks after trading for Bradford on September 3. We’d say it seems like they can’t catch a break, but it seems like that’s all they’re getting, the breaks are just bad ones.

Already without quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who went down with a massive knee injury on August 30 during a routine practice drill, the Vikings must also move on without their starting left tackle Matt Kalil.
Peterson was injured in the third quarter of Minnesota’s 17-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers Sunday night. The Republican governor said he spoke with Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis this week and thought Davis was “committed and resolute in the team’s interest in relocating to our state”. However, doctors say such a surgery would have resulted in the risk of having arthritis later in his life. “The surgery was performed by team physician Chris Larson at Twin Cities Orthopedics”. Dr. Derek Ochiai, of the Nirschl Orthopaedic Center in Arlington, Va., and Dr. Moira McCarthy of the Hospital for Special Surgery in NY, both said a “bucket handle tear” is more severe than a typical meniscus tear.
With Peterson nearly surely on the shelf for the remainder of the season, Asiata and McKinnon are back in familiar territory.
The Vikings, who conclude the regular season January 1 against Chicago, have not put Peterson on injured reserve. The Vikings have the blueprint to make this work - just look at what Denver’s done in the last year - but no one said it was going to be easy.
Peterson will be 32 years old in March and due to make million in 2017.
Peterson had 31 carries for 50 yards in the first two games of the 2016 season.
For now, Zimmer is confident of the Vikings (2-0) continuing to play well without Peterson. “Obviously, we’ve had a few setbacks but. we’re not the type of team that’s gonna sit back and cry about what’s happened”. “I know everybody is all concerned about we don’t have this, we don’t have that”.
San Diego Chargers rookie defensive end Joey Bosa may finally be ready to join his team in game action soon.
In 2015, Peterson ran for 961 yards with an average 4.8 yards per carry through his first nine games, then just 524 yards with an average of 3.7 yards per carry in the final seven games.
“We just have to understand that that’s the National Football League”, defensive end Brian Robison said. “You have to be prepared at all times because you never know when your number gets called and they expect you to play at a high level when it is”.
Unless they can prove that losing Peterson is actually a boost to their ground game - it won’t be - Minnesota’s offense will change from one built around running to one that relies on Bradford’s arm.
Colts: Receiver Donte Moncrief is expected to miss four to six weeks with a fractured left shoulder blade.
Only 22 of them start the game, but the others are important, too, especially when an injury forces them into duty.
