Indian shooters continue their winning spree

Indian shooters continued their impressive show in the ISSF Junior World Cup at Gabala in Azerbaijan as they bagged 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals on the third day of the competition yesterday.

Sambhaji also added the Team Gold in the event along with compatriots Gurmeet and Rituraj Singh to take India atop the medal tally with three Gold medals in the day to add to the Silver won in the Junior Men’s Team Rifle Prone and two Bronze medals.

India’s only gold medal of the day came in the junior women’s 10 metre Air Pistol team event.

Earlier in the day, Pratik Borse, Arjun Babuta and Prashant won the team gold in the 10m air rifle event with a combined score of 1849.9. Then after being in Silver medal position after the 11th shot, Harshada posted a string of low scores to end her campaign in fourth place.

Chinki and Gauri also reached the individual competition finals along with Muskan, where Chinki qualified for the bronze medal play-off.

India’s only bronze of the day came in the women’s Trap competition through the team comprising Pragati Gupta, Soumya Gupta and Manisha Keer.

In the junior men’s 5m pistol, Anmol, Nishant Bhardwaj and Arjun Das won the team silver with a combined score of 1600 behind team Russia’s score of 1640. Gaurav Rana, Hemendra Kushwah and Saurabh Chaudhary won the silver medal at the men’s edition of the event.

The boy from Bengal marked his best ever performance at the global level to shoot a score of 613.8, qualifying in sixth position for the eight-man finals of the Junior Men’s 50M Rifle Prone event.
