What we learned: Bears QB Brian Hoyer preparing to start vs. Cowboys

Same approach: Even with Cutler unable to practice Wednesday and his status uncertain for Sunday night’s game in Dallas, backup Brian Hoyer isn’t changing his approach.

A lot of Chicago Bears fans probably wish that they never see Jay Cutler suit up for their team again.

Additionally, running back Ka’Deem Carey (hamstring), defensive lineman Eddie Goldman (ankle), linebacker Danny Trevathan, Trevathan (thumb), safety Adrian Amos (concussion), cornerback Bryce Callahan (concussion) and safety Chris Prosinski (calf) didn’t participate in practice. He has taken snaps from rookie center Cody Whitehair in a live game and also connected with Kevin White. Porter has appeared in the team’s first two games of the season, while Fuller has missed both contests due to a lingering injury that he suffered during the preseason.

One of Hoyer’s priorities is to quickly establish a connection with Cutler’s favorite target, Alshon Jeffery.

“If you take one day off, you take one rep off mentally and then that’s the play that get’s called in the game”. “He’s been exclusively with Jay”.

“So the thing that I’ve noticed from watching those two work is you just put it in the guy’s vicinity”. He’s a big-body guy who uses his strength. The Eagles haven’t been afraid to throw with Wentz at quarterback, and he’ll get his chance to throw against a unit that has allowed 347.5 passing yards per game. Let me tell you something else, he’s playing traditional 4-3 teams. The team is still deciding what to do in terms of a roster decision, but it’s assumed that when Houston is placed on injured reserve the Bears will bring quarterback Matt Barkley up from the practice squad to back up Hoyer in Cutler’s absence.

Cutler left the game in the third quarter with a right thumb injury, which may date back to the season opener.

“In fact, per carry, really our stats aren’t bad, ” Fox said.

The Bears will be trying to avoid a second straight 0-3 start under Fox.

The Chicago Bears are now off to a disappointing 0-2 start to the 2016-2017 National Football League season.

“At one point, we were 2-5 and we made the playoffs”, he said. He thinks the Bears can do the same thing this year. That’s the biggest thing to stress.
