Abadi in a news conference in Baghdad attend by Iraqi News, said, “We refuse dictate terms during our discussions with the International Monetary Fund and we put mechanisms and a plan to reform the economic system in Iraq”.
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, speaking from NY where he met US President Barack Obama, said the same operation also included efforts to flush out IS fighters from desert areas near Ramadi and Heet in the western province of Anbar. Calling Mosul a “challenging battle”, Obama also noted that the USA will be “prepared to help provide rapid humanitarian assistance” to displaced Iraqis.
Sherqat is “in close proximity to their supply lines”, Dorrian said, referring to routes by which Iraqi forces move troops and material for operations against IS.
Obama also planned to meet Monday with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and socialize with USA diplomats who work at the U.N. He was also to raise money in private for Senate Democrats, a day after holding another fundraiser for Hillary Clinton.
Speaking after a meeting with Prime Minister John Key at the United Nations in New York, Haider al-Abadi said New Zealand troops were making a difference in Iraq.
USA officials had earlier this year said it wouldn’t begin before the end of 2016.
The White House said they discussed climate change, the Somali refugee crisis and the fight against the east Africa-based militant group al-Shabab.
Obama also spoke with Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta by phone in lieu of a face-to-face meeting.
Vice President Joe Biden will meet Abadi Thursday. The U.S. told invited countries that they must show up with significant commitments in hand to resettle and support more people displaced from that country.
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi: Iraqi forces are also moving to retake two areas in the western province of Anbar.
The Iraqi army is gearing up for a major offensive in to purge Daesh from Mosul, the country’s second city.
“We feel confident that we will be in a position to move forward fairly rapidly”, Mr Obama said, vowing to fight “right at the heart of the ISIL operation in Mosul”.
