Prior to the hiatus, the Badgers and Spartans were busy playing in some of the most exciting games with some fairly important consequences.

POLL:How will UW do in its next three games?

Wisconsin has lost their last four games against Michigan State.

First, let’s start with the bad in Wisconsin’s win over Georgia State (and there’s plenty to choose from).

Michigan State, 4-0 and ranked No. 24, overcame a slow start and controlled the game from the midway point of the second quarter en route to a 34-24 victory. There was controversy at the end of the season when the Badgers got the nod for the Rose Bowl over the Spartans despite identical records and MSU holding the head-to-head advantage. When he returned, his answer meshed with head coach Paul Chryst’s company line. “I’m positive of that”, Chryst said when asked if Houston was still the starter. “You do it in hockey, you have two goalies”.

“I think we would had the confidence if we hadn’t played or beaten LSU”, Hornibrook said, “but I guess just that we did shows us we can play with and beat elite teams”.

The Badgers dropped two spots in the A.P. Top 25, falling from 9 to 11, despite being 3-0 on the season.

“So I’m not planning anything right now other than appreciating this win”.

“You’ve got to approach each week as its own week”, Chryst said.

“They went with Alex and they thought he was going to do some stuff to win the ball game, and obviously he did,” Houston said after the game. Last season Warner was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team a year ago after recording a team-high 10 points on three goals and four assists.

“We’re getting better”, Franklin said.

The schedule for Wisconsin doesn’t get any better, having to travel to MI next week before hosting Ohio State and then traveling to Iowa the following game. “But if I know those guys, I’m expecting them to want to be out there”. If Hornibrook is able to continue that, you would think that the offense will look better than it has all season, but the Badgers are facing a new test on Saturday. “He’s very poised to stay in the pocket-he’s going to see a different type of pressure against the Spartans, of course-but he’s shown that he’s a little bit unflappable, which is a really an asset in this league”. But that’s the way it’s always been here.

The way the conference is faring this year, every week from here on out will be a challenge. “It’s just the nature of it”.

“So just to see him go out there and make some plays, we all knew he could do it”.

Even more worrisome is that running backs Taiwan Deal (right leg) and Bradrick Shaw (right shoulder) are also both listed as questionable this week.

Fumagalli said the injury happened when he landed on his right hip after making a catch, saying it didn’t feel right when he tried to move after the fact.
