Rousey nearing UFC return

Ronda Rousey’s trainer Edmond Tarverdyan told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne that there’s a possibility the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion returns to the Octagon this year.

While rumors involving Rousey returning at UFC 200 had been a hot topic among fans, she chose to pass on the historic card and spend more time away from the Octagon.

Ronda Rousey finally could be nearing a return to the octagon.

According to the report, Ronda is now in negotiations for her return match into the octagon to be more than likely against Amanda Nunes for her title.

I think it will help that UFC event greatly if they make that the main event. What makes this more and more likely to happen is that Nunes is 100% on board with the fight.

Rousey (12-1), also a former Strikeforce champion and Olympic bronze medalist, has not been seen inside the Octagon since Holly Holm’s shin slapped across her head at UFC 193 last November.

According to sources that spoke to FOX Sports, Rousey has been given the opportunity to fight Nunes for the women’s bantamweight title at UFC 207 in Las Vegas on December 30. It was her first loss in over three years.

Tate took some much needed time off following UFC 200 after her nose was mashed during the battle with Nunes. If this does go through, then this would be one of the biggest fights in the UFC in 2016.

Nunes (13-4), who recently teased an upcoming fight announcement, initially earned her shot at UFC gold after earning decision over unsafe striker Valentina Shevchenko on the same card Tate won her title. Stay with LowKick for the latest on Rousey’s potential return bout against “The Lioness”.
