Bears QB Cutler ‘concerned’ after injuring right thumb

In the meantime the Bears need to make a change at inside linebacker to cover for the loss of Danny Trevathan, undergoing surgery for a thumb injury of his own that coach John Fox said will not be season-ending. He has complete control of his team, doesn’t seem rattled in the pocket and bounces back on the rare occurrence that something does go wrong.

“I’m fine with that”, Cutler said.

After being strip sacked and throwing an interception, Cutler left the game in the third quarter with the Bears trailing.

Jay Cutler has been the butt of jokes throughout his career, but his harshest critics may want to take a step back.

Maybe it is an easy thing to smooth over, but as a quarterback, you need the team to buy into you, and that is already in question with a tweet like this.

On the play after the interception, Carson Wentz hit Trey Burton for a two-yard touchdown and a nine-point lead became a 15-point lead and essentially ended the contest.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has earned some admirers during the first two weeks of his National Football League career.

Cutler topped a long list of players injured in Monday’s 29-14 loss to Philadelphia. Yeah I will be the first to admit that I didn’t have high expectations for the Bears this year, especially after coming back from a 6-10 season and a last place finish in the division as well as losing star running back Matt Forte to free agency.

“I’m concerned”, Cutler said Monday.

“He’s a passionate guy”, Cutler said. Everyone’s got a lot invested into this, and he does as well. No one likes to lose. No one likes to in that fashion. He’s upset, I’m upset.

Cutler headed to the locker room.

“Whether you’re the starter, the backup or the third guy, you prepare every week like you’re the starter”, Hoyer said.

Fox said, though, that the injury was not a chronic issue previous year, his first with the Bears.

Fox says the Bears will take things one day at a time in regard to who plays quarterback Sunday against the Cowboys.

Cutler’s thumb is far from his only problem.

The Bears had six players leave the game against the Eagles with injuries, and none were able to return.

Former Chargers head team doctor David Chao said letting the finger heal without surgery is reasonable – but even so, Cutler playing “effectively” by Sunday’s Dallas game is unlikely.
