In the meantime the Bears need to make a change at inside linebacker to cover for the loss of Danny Trevathan, undergoing surgery for a thumb injury of his own that coach John Fox said will not be season-ending. Fox says the Bears will take things one day at a time in regard to who plays quarterback Sunday against the Cowboys.
Cutler’s thumb is far from his only problem.
The Bears had six players leave the game against the Eagles with injuries, and none were able to return.

Former Chargers head team doctor David Chao said letting the finger heal without surgery is reasonable – but even so, Cutler playing “effectively” by Sunday’s Dallas game is unlikely.
