Bills owners reportedly met with offensive players without Ryan

Thursday night NY evened their record to 1-1 and dropped the hated Bills to 0-2 in their 37-31 win, showing Buffalo and the rest of the league that they are not the same old Jets. However, Buffalo Bils head coach Rex Ryan decided on Friday to let go of second-year offensive coordinator, Greg Roman. Anthony Lynn, the team’s assistant head coach and running backs coach, will assume the position.

He’s clearly the next man on the chopping block if the Bills don’t turn their 0-2 season around in a hurry. Against the Jets, the Bills had 307 yards offense, with more than half that coming on two plays: Taylor’s 84-yard touchdown pass to Marquise Goodwin and a 74-yard TD pass to Greg Salas. The Bills led the National Football League in rushing last season while first-year starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor developed to the point that he earned a six-year contract extension that could yield as much as $92 million. The Bills went 8-8 and missed the playoffs last season.

Buffalo is 0-2 for the first time since 2010.

After generating only 160 yards in the opener, the Bills’ offense bounced back to rack up 393 yards. They’ll sometimes even defend their own mistakes before they make them, like when Bucs coach Dirk Koetter basically said he knew that the math supported going for two more often but he still wouldn’t do it because he’s scared.

The head coach went on to explain his reasoning for making the move. The quarterbacks he’s worked with included Andrew Luck, Alex Smith, Colin Kaepernick, and Tyrod Taylor.

The defensive-minded head coach using his offensive coordinator as a scapegoat the day after giving up 37 points and almost 500 yards to a division rival. Ian Rapoport is reporting that Ryan has the “full support” of team ownership.

“He’s played well in other games”, Jets coach Todd Bowles said.

The Jets appeared as if they might be headed for another gut-wrenching loss when the Bills scored 17 unanswered points in a stretch of 3:50 spanning the second and third quarters to take a 24-20 lead.

“We thought we could cover them”, a resigned Ryan said after the game.

Roman served as the 49ers’ offensive coordinator from 2011 to 2014 after following then-49ers coach Jim Harbaugh from Stanford. He’s largely struggled through the first two games, both as a passer (save for a few big plays) and a runner (only 36 yards rushing this season). This season is gearing up to be a disaster in Western New York for the Bills.

Shady is just not living up to expectations in Buffalo, I think it’s time for the Bills to look for another HB either through free agency or the draft. Rob Ryan, Rex’s twin, is Buffalo’s defensive coordinator.
