Indians starting pitcher Trevor Bauer can not handle a hit back to the mound by the Tigers’ Cameron Maybin during the first inning September 18 at Progressive Field.

In the first game, Jameson Taillon pitched five innings and singled to drive in a big league run for the first time during a 10-4 win that officially eliminated the Reds from postseason contention. In other words, “Write glowingly about us, otherwise we will shun you publicly and make it hard or impossible for you to properly do your job”.
Trevor Bauer needs to pitch well for Cleveland’s injury-depleted rotation as the Indians close in on the AL Central title. “Because they’re all going to pitch, and we’re going to win, “‘ Francona said. “The good news is we think we can”.
The injury was the latest blow to the Indians, whose rotation is led by 2014 AL Cy Young Award victor Corey Kluber.
Right-hander Danny Salazar is expected to miss the rest of the season with a strained forearm for Cleveland, which leads Detroit by seven games in the American League Central.
Justin Upton hit his 25th home run of the season. Anderson, who had been working out of the bullpen, is scheduled to start Saturday against the White Sox.
They get mad. Bauer hit three batters in his first three innings on the mound, and the Tigers offense exploded to beat the Indians 9-5 on Sunday, staving off a series sweep.
In the first inning, Carrasco had a 95 mph fastball sent back his way by [Ian] Kinsler with an exit velocity of 101 mph, per Statcast.
Jeff Manship replaced Carrasco after the infield hit. Carrasco missed six weeks earlier in the season with a strained hamstring, which also occurred against the Tigers.
He coughed up six runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings.
That being said, Kipnis and Bauer – especially Bauer – went over the line in telling Hoynes he’s “not welcome” in the clubhouse to do his job.
Ian Kinsler led off the top of the third and got hit in the head by a pitch from Bauer.
“Obviously, this is a tough team loss”, Verlander said. It was Santana’s 32nd homer of the year and made it a one-run game at 6-5.
Cleveland countered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, one coming on a sacrifice fly by Francisco Lindor that shaved the Tigers’ lead to 5-4. Cabrera singled to right in that inning for his 2,500th career hit.
Tigers: 3B Nick Castellanos (broken right hand) will face pitchers the next two days in Lakeland, Florida.

Indians: OF Lonnie Chisenhall (strained abdominal muscle), who has been out of the starting lineup since September 15, pinch hit in the ninth.
