Send in the clown complaints: Spate of reports raises alarm

Police say they’re investigating after two clowns – one dressed in orange, the other in black – were seen yelling at children in northeast Pennsylvania.

Since creepy clowns crept into southern Kentucky earlier this month, they have since been spotted all over the state.

Sheriff Greg Pollan stated that there have been no reports of any such incidents in the county “contrary to what is being posted on social media”. The subject in the photo is unclear but many frightened Facebook users believed it was a clown. According to the statement, the clowns were “armed with various weapons frightening members of the public”.

Clown sightings have been reported in several other states as well. They could still face harassment and disorderly conduct charges.

Calhoun County law enforcement have responded to local rumors of mysterious clowns appearing in the county.

“It’s time for this joke to end”, Kessler said in the release. “Chapter 61-7-11 prohibits the brandishing of any unsafe or deadly weapon”.

The release also noted that many people have a legitimate phobia of clowns, and that those posing as clowns could be the victims of violence.

Finally, the release said the pranks are waste of police resources, saying that “grown men (should) have the common sense to refrain from such juvenile behavior”.
