Kane opens account as Spurs smash Stoke
Mauricio Pochettino believes Tottenham Hotspur have shaken off the hangover of last season’s meltdown in the Premier League title race as they prepare to challenge on multiple fronts following Saturday’s 4-0 win at Stoke City.

“I think I didn’t score in my first seven or eight games and then to go on and win the Golden Boot proves that it was just a matter of time”. When you come out of your technical arena, it’s not allowed, sometimes you forget that.
And Pochettino continued: “I can tell you that the players we have are not motivated only for money”.
The 24-year-old Denmark global is a key figure for Spurs, having helped Mauricio Pochettino’s team to mount a genuine challenge for the Premier League title last season, ultimately finishing third behind Leicester City and runner-up Arsenal.
“Another day, another time, you can’t improve”, added Pochettino, “but in this game it was ideal and I think we fully deserved the result”. “We’re very pleased for him”.
With Kane in the midst of a goal drought which is starting to resemble that of the start of last season, Pochettino was unfazed about his prospects for the rest of this one. “We have been together with the national team for a while”.
“To be honest, we were always behind him, trying to help, but subconsciously maybe speculation can affect you when you’re in process to negotiate your future”.
The French global joined Spurs on transfer deadline day in what was a club record £30 million deal, despite at one stage looking set to join fellow Premier League outfit Everton.
“I’m working hard to get back fit and it’s like a new pre-season for me, but it’s good”.
Tottenham has had a decent start to the season as they have won one and drew two games making five points on the table, scoring three goal and conceding two in total.
As well as signing a string of their own players to new deals they also landed £30million midfielder Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle, beating off Deadline Day competition from Everton.
“We want and we expect top performances in every game – to play well, score goals – and that is hard”.
Pochettino said he was unconcerned by the lateness of the deals and praised Sissoko’s ability, with a potential debut at Stoke to come on Saturday.
