Floyd Mayweather Says Conor McGregor Rejected Chance to Fight Him
On Monday night, without the slightest hint of warning, lightweight kingpin Eddie Alvarez laid down the gauntlet to Conor McGregor for a champion-versus-champion showdown for UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden, in NY.

Mayweather explained: “I tried to make the fight happen between me and Conor McGregor”.
As we now know, McGregor got the win by a unanimous decision, which immediately turned the attention to a potential fight with Alvarez as his next fight.
According to multiple reports, it’s unclear just how serious Mayweather was when talking about fighting McGregor.
Nurmagomedov joined in the conversation, imploring Alvarez to sign the contract and promising to end their fight quickly when they meet.
UFC 205 will be the promotion’s debut in New York City, taking place at Madison Square Garden on November 12.
The 28-year-old has spoken time and again of his desire to fight for the lightweight title and now is champion of the featherweight division.
This is not the first time this year negotiations have gone public between UFC president Dana White and McGregor.
McGregor admitted in the summer he would be interested in the crossover bout if the money was right, but the two sides look to have been unable to agree terms.
The 32-year-old Philadelphia native has a 28-4 MMA record and has won the last three of his four UFC bouts. Meanwhile, it was also reported that McGregor is rehabbing a leg injury suffered against Nate Diaz at UFC 202 and is unlikely to compete at UFC 205 in any form. The fight seemed close to coming to fruition and its being made was reliant on the only thing that really matters, money, but now, Mayweather has said that that ship has sailed.

McGregor hasn’t posted any training footage since his last scrap with Diaz.
