Update 9/22, 1:40 p.m.: TMZ is now claiming that the case against Brad Pitt has been referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as LAPD “did not have jurisdiction because the alleged incident occurred in the air, on a flight from France to the U.S”.
An investigation is underway into allegations of child abuse against Brad Pitt, a source within the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services confirmed to KTLA Thursday.
The Los Angeles Police Department and L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services (DCFS) are investigating Brad Pitt for allegedly getting “verbally abusive” and “physical” with his kids, TMZ reports.
A person close to Pitt told TMZ that the star of “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” has taken the matter very seriously and claimed that he had never abused any of the couple’s children.
After the call, DCFS notified the LAPD and law enforcement sources say the LAPD’s Abused Child Unit (ACU) got the report, but because the incident happened on the air during a flight from France to the States, the LAPD doesn’t have jurisdiction.
Los Angeles police sources did not confirm whether the Federal Bureau of Investigation would be handling the case, but did say that Pitt is not now being investigated by the department. The source added, “It’s unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light”. We have no investigation involving Mr. Pitt.
Pitt and Jolie have six children: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10 and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Pitt told People magazine about his concern for his children once news of the divorce was publicly released.
