Investigators said they found similarities between this device and the bomb that exploded in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood Saturday evening, but have not linked the two events at this time.

The official says two officers were shot in the encounter in Linden, New Jersey.

Citing the FBI, New Jersey State Police said Monday that the bombs in Chelsea and Seaside Park were connected.

De Blasio also said investigators have so far found no connection to an incident earlier Saturday in Seaside Heights, N.J., in which a pipe bomb exploded near a Marine charity run.
His last known address, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where a suspicious package near a train station exploded while a bomb squad was trying to disarm it. No one was injured.

The explosions came days before world leaders prepared to gather at the United Nations in NY for the annual General Assembly.
