Google Play is now bringing Android apps to Chromebooks
The latest software build brings the said feature. In 2014, Google announced that it was working with a few select partners to bring certain apps to Chrome OS.

You’ve been able to run Android apps on some Chromebooks since June, but when the feature first launched it was only available if your Chromebook was using Chrome 53 Dev Channel.
Now, for those willing to convert their Chromebooks into a powerhouse by installing Android apps, will need to do not forget to switch to the stable channel (if they aren’t already on it) and update to version 53.0.2785.129.
Google Play and Android apps moved a step closer to a broader release to more devices today, thanks to a graduation of the Google Play beta experience to Chrome OS stable.
In fact, Chromebook owners have used Reddit back in April to call the attention of Google to allow them access to Google Play as the store was still inactive by then although the feature was already there.
Has the eventual arrival of the Play Store on the Chrome OS been something that you’ve looked forward to seeing?
You’ll need to agree to the Terms of Service for Google Play on a Chromebook. These three laptops, alongside the HP Chromebox CB1 and Acer C7 Chromebook, did not receive the last stable channel update.
Speaking to Venture Beat however, a Google spokesperson indicated the Chromebook Pixel (2015) will also get the update soon, “A beta release of the Play store is available to users now on the Acer R11 and Asus Flip (and coming soon to Pixel 2015) and can be enabled from the Settings page”.

That’s right – even though we’re still talking about just three devices, the Play store is disabled by default. Apps can be installed through the Google Play store which will automatically be installed after the device has been updated to latest version of the OS.
