Joe Montana made history with his appearance on the cover of Time Magazine more than 30 years ago.

Kaepernick, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback, first staged a silent protest during the Star-Spangled Banner before a preseason game in August against the Green Bay Packers.
Kaepernick has been kneeling during the national anthem before games and has said he does so to protest ongoing police violence against black people.
Just two years ago, 16 percent of African Americans liked him “a lot”, while only 3 percent disliked him “a lot”.
“I think it’s an issue – you look at what’s gone on in Tulsa and Charlotte in the last two nights”, Kelly said. Because whats going on is not right.
The 49ers coach defended his quarterback, saying he’s using his protest to bring attention to an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed. So, I think, again, (Kaepernick) is shedding light on the situation that is heinous and shouldn’t happen in this country. By kneeling, I intended to stimulate meaningful dialogue and to raise awareness so that we will be able to find solutions to the problems that exist in this country.
Since Kaepernick first took his stance against social injustice, he has been joined by a number of players across the league and even those in other sports, like United States of America soccer star Megan Rapinoe. Theyre being violated and thats what I think Colin is standing up for.. We’ve seen Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers each discuss donations of $1 million to community organizations.

When it comes to football, however, Kelly says Kaepernick makes his team a priority and takes his role seriously. He’s balanced it really well, and he’s managed it really well.
