Charlotte prosecutor asks state to probe fatal shooting
Authorities have not yet identified any suspects responsible for the shooting, although photos published by local media show that some protesters were armed.

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was treated and released after he was injured by shattered glass from his patrol vehicle during a violent protest in uptown Charlotte Wednesday night.
But his family have insisted the 43-year-old was disabled and was only reading a book when he died.
Barber said he condemned the violence and destruction seen in the protests, but he would not condemn the rage people felt about the death of Scott and other black men by police officers.
According to Time Warner Cable News, seven law enforcement officers were injured during the protests as well.
Several reporters and people on the street were attacked as police in riot gear linked arms, marched down streets and fired tear gas.
But Scott’s death and last week’s killing of Terence Clutcher in Oklahoma, who was unarmed, has once again raised questions of racial bias in USA policing.
Mr Scott was shot as he walked slowly backwards with his hands by his side, Mr Bamberg said.
“The Department of Justice is aware of, and we are assessing, the incident that led to the death of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte”.
WATCH: Charlotte police union spokesman said video showed Scott had gunDuring the question and answer portion of the news conference, the lawyers were asked if anyone in Scott’s family witnessed the shooting.
It is not clear when, or if, dash and body camera video of the shooting might be publicly released.
Charlotte mayor Jennifer Roberts waited until Thursday’s protests were under way for more than an hour before signing documents for the city-wide curfew that runs from midnight to 6am.
Putney said that police would not be releasing a dashcam video of Scott’s shooting “to the masses”, reported CNN.
The National Guard and the Highway Patrol have also been called in to help quell the unrest, which comes in response to the killing of Keith Scott. Police say they recovered a gun from the scene. The plainclothes officer who shot Scott, Brently Vinson, was not wearing a camera. “Quite frankly, we don’t know what’s on the video”, Bamberg said before the family viewed the video. Police say Scott, who was sitting in a auto when police arrived for another matter, refused to drop a gun as he exited the vehicle.
