Placing a location-tracking Tile on you stuff has become a good way to keep you from pulling up all the couch cushions in your house when you misplace your vehicle keys.

When Tile co-founders Mike Farley and Nick Evans spoke to MobileSyrup in 2013, they said they would try to release yearly hardware updates for their innovative Bluetooth tracker.

You can also turn any nearby smartphones (both Android and iOS) into virtual Tiles without needing the actual dongle. At the same time, you can also log in to the Tile website and locate your mobile device on a map.

Kickstarter sensation Tile has released a new smart keyring that will help you find your lost valuables.

In addition, the new Tile has added a feature to help with hard-to-find items: when a user loses something, he or she can notify the Tile network, which will activate every user’s phone to look for the item.

The company has also updated its app which allows you to ring your phone if it’s lost. That means that you can ring your lost phone from that other device. Among the changes include increasing its volume by three times, making it easier for you to hear/locate missing items that Tile is attached to. If someone in the Tile hivemind detects that your device is near them, you’ll get a notification as to where it might be. The phone will ring, even if it is on silent or vibrate. Just tap the Tile’s “e” button twice and it will play a short, loud tune on your smartphone, as long as it’s within 100 feet. Well, it’s been a bit more than a year since the original was released, but the second generation Tile is finally here, and it brings with it a several key improvements to the initial concept.

The new Tile is available for $24.99, but customers interested in purchasing many units of the device can get discounts on Tile’s online shop.
