Pep Guardiola is already throwing shade at the Premier League

Manchester City are the team to beat in this season’s Premier League based on the five games completed so far, meaning Pep Guardiola has turned heads during his short tenure at the club.

They next face Swansea in the EFL Cup and Premier League before a Champions League trip to Celtic, but Guardiola is refusing to think about silverware yet.

Despite City’s flying start, Guardiola was guarded when asked if the aim was to win all four competitions this season.

Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho were City’s scorers in the first half, with Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan adding goals in the second.

How said: “It was a hard one for him because the team didn’t get high enough up the pitch to see his true quality, and that’s where he’s going to excel for us – in the attacking third”.

“We are so lucky we have Kevin with us”, the coach said. Wow, that is enough. To win titles or not, we will see.

Was Pep right to react in such an exasperated fashion?

“We’ve won five games in the Premier League but in our world it’s better not to read”. Every single game has its own problem and we need to deal with them.

De Bruyne scored the first and was involved in the other three goals, continuing a run of form which has been instrumental in City winning eight successive games under Guardiola, surpassing the record of seven set in the Victorian era in 1897. “It is not so easy, we have a lot of work and it is only September”. Some movements in our high pressing after half-time was not good but it’s good for that to happen because we can improve it. But I don’t really look at the result, I look at the performance and overall I was disappointed.

“When we win we are so happy, our training sessions are better and the people laugh more but we know that still we have a lot of things to get better”. I don’t think so, guys. Not one of those sides finished the season as champions and none of them covered the kind of ground Guardiola expects his players to.
